Testimonials

This took place the end of 2005. Or the very beginning of 2006. I just know that it took place after spending months on bedrest. (Beginning of 2005.) And before my first child was born. Which was the end of 2006. So, somewhere in that timeframe.

I still wasn’t healthy enough to go get a job. But I could help out the family by being the driver for everyone else. We only had my car at the time. With us living about 13 miles outside of town, I had a lot of driving to do. A regular day would look like leaving before the sun came up. To get sister A to work. Her shift started at 6am. To then go back home. Mom would be ready. I would now drive her to work. A completely different part of town.

To turn around and go get sister B. Who would now be ready and need to go to work in another area of town. After this, because we didn’t have any running water, I would then take the 20+ gallon jugs to go fill them up. Run any other errands. Then start to pick people up. The day would possibly end with any grocery shopping before being done for the day.

Yet one week, we made a big mistake in budgeting for gas. It’s now the beginning of the week. My car is sitting on empty and the only amount of money we have left is a total of $1.14.

Strangely enough, I wasn’t worried. I don’t have an explanation for it. I just know that a certain bible story had popped into my head. And it stayed there. You can find the story in 1 Kings 17: 8- 16. This is where a widow had a little bit of flour and a little bit of oil. She was about to use the last of it. But Elijah said to make him some first. Then for her and her son, and they would not run out.

Monday morning comes. I tell sister A that we are going to trust God to get us to the gas station. And that it will be open. We get there. And wonderfully, yes, it was open. Then I pull out all that change that I have. The $1.14. I quickly tell her the bible story. And that God does for one he will do for all. So we are going to put this much gas in the car, and we are going to trust God. Because it won’t be until Thursday till someone gets paid.

Went inside, paid for the gas. Put that little bit of gas into the car. The needle on the gas gage didn’t move. But I figured that it most likely didn’t look like there was any more flour or oil in those containers either. So I preceded to drive. Every trip. Each day. The entire time, the needle was right on empty. But my little car ran just fine. And Thursday afternoon we were able to go back to the gas station without a single problem.

This is one of my personal testimonies. Yet now, it’s yours too. That’s the power of testimonies. It multiples.
